Project ManagementToday, more and more work is organized into “projects,” and even non-project work is taking on more of the attributes of projects – not least, an increased focus on accountability. Project management skills, therefore, have become essential to success in virtually every workplace. These skills include work planning, staffing, handling differences, managing meetings, influencing others, communicating effectively, and more. For each of these skills, there are proven best practices. Learning those best practices can make both individuals and organizations dramatically more effective.

  • Identify the key elements of project management
  • Understand how projects can be managed in a changing environment – especially with respect to time, cost, and performance
  • Use proven planning and control tools that are essential to successful project management
  • Master leadership behaviors required to gain and maintain commitment to projects from executives and employees throughout the organization

Program Description

This module teaches the core tools and interpersonal skills needed to successfully manage projects. These include: Work Breakdowns (WBS); Gantt charts; PERT/CPM; staffing projects; gaining commitment; ensuring accountability; leading meetings; and dealing with the unexpected. Skills will be taught through interaction with the instructor and other participants and through the use of topic-specific simulations, exercises, and practice sessions – all designed for meaningful application in everyday work situations.
