PRESS RELEASE: May 17, 2001
"Top-Down" Training
Unveils at Training World 2001 Workshop
San Diego, CA Eric Herzog, Ph. D., will introduce his
innovative approach to getting the most for every human resources
dollar during Training World 2001.
Dr. Herzog will speak at a July 8th pre-conference
workshop, titled "Getting Senior Leaders to Lead ... Your
Classes". He will explore Leader-Led Leadership Development
(sm), a concept he pioneered and perfected in real time, real
life... on site at major clients.
According to Dr. Herzog, President of Quest Training and Consulting
Corporation, "many CEOs and senior executives are unapproachable
on the subject of regular teaching duties. Yet we've proven -
on a rather large scale - that leader-led training is one of
the most profitable investments of time and money a successful
corporate leader can make."
"The concept we'll share - of leaders developing leaders - can
be carried down through every department... in every facility," he
explains. "How much more powerful would the corporate mission
statement be when delivered personally by the CEO? Who better
to teach the operating procedures than the person who developed
them? "
On the platform with Dr. Herzog will be two of his most successful
clients and advocates; John Matthews, Senior Vice President of
COSTCO Wholesale, and Milgard Manufacturing's Nancylee Oczkowski,
Training and Organizational Development Manager.
Matthews will share the history of implementing leader-led programs
throughout the 353-store membership retailer. And how this type
of employee development actually helps enable COSTCO's ambitious
expansion plans to add 30+ new stores per year. "It's the only
sure way to meet our need for 5000 additional leaders, up-to-speed
and ready to run the new locations," explains Matthews.
Participants will also learn from Oczkowski what she had in
mind when she developed
Milgard University. She'll tell why she chose leader-led leadership
development as the most effective way to meet corporate goals.
And how she got the president and top executives of this large
custom window and door manufacturer to facilitate the in-house
program. According to Oczkowski, "It's been so successful, they
keep finding more ways to expand the use of the leader-led concept."
Both Oczkowski and Matthews will give insights on how and why
savvy top management leaders buy into this program. And how the
return on investment makes them enthusiastically help deliver
it.
"We're thrilled our clients offered to help with this workshop" said
Dr. Herzog. "We're packing as much information as we can into
the 3 hours. And we'll show attendees how to set it up, implement
it and measure the ROI. Participants will take away the concepts,
facts and tools to jump-start a leader-led development program
of their own."
